Características
In its more than 40-year history, the 'Demon Drum Group' Ondekoza has had a major influence on the spread and popularisation of Japanese drumming. Many of Ondekoza's arrangements have become part of the repertoire of taiko groups around the world.
The ensemble is constantly searching for new forms of expression and believes that the sound of the drum alone is powerful, stripping the performance of anything superfluous and playing to the limit of physical possibilities. Ondekoza's aim is to create stage pieces that are entertaining for both children and adults. Before each show, the individual shime drums are stretched to the limit - a task that requires the synchronised strength of two members - to achieve the cutting sound that is representative of Ondekoza's style.
