Pianist Vladimir Shafranov's artfully illustrated dog covers in the Venus Records programme make the viewer smile; but the fact that the title "Blues For Percy" is dedicated to his beloved dog adds a deeper level to both the illustration and the song. Alongside this original composition are great standards such as the upbeat "Groovy Samba" by Sergio Mendes and the poetic "Scandia Skies" by Kenny Dorham.
