Oliver Nelson is primarily known as a big band leader and arranger, less so as a saxophonist and organizer of smaller ensembles. He triumphed as a musician with "The Blues and The Abstract Truth" and immortalized himself in jazz history with the classic "Stolen Moments."
In addition to Nelson, the outstanding sextet includes trumpeter Freddie Hubbard, alto saxophonist Eric Dolphy, pianist Bill Evans, bassist Paul Chambers and drummer Roy Haynes.
