The First Piano Concerto op.23 in B flat minor is the most recorded piano concerto in music history and is a real ear candy. It is part of the standard repertoire for pianists all over the world, and anyone who has heard this bombastic yet menacing work will recognise it at any time. Argerich has recorded the concerto several times, and here it is joined by Franz Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 1 in E flat major. The London Symphony Orchestra performs under the baton of Claudio Abbado.
