Although the title suggests otherwise, Russell, who rose to fame as a rock, blues and country musician and songwriter, features some jazz songs and even funky synthesizers on "Stop All That Jazz." On his sixth solo album, released in 1974, he is joined by the Tulsa, Oklahoma-based funk group "The Gap Band." Working with Russell, who was always high on the charts in the '70s, the group became known to a wider audience.
