Canadian pianist Jan Lisiecki rose to international fame with the music of Frédéric Chopin. Recordings of his performances of Chopin's piano concertos as a 13-year-old were released on CD by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute in 2010, and critics hailed the young Lisiecki for his virtuosity, interpretation and natural playing.
Now in his mid-twenties, the pianist turns his attention to Chopin's 'Nocturnes', which are among the most popular and beautiful works of piano music and which enchanted Lisiecki as a child. Written between 1827 and 1846, the cycle opens up a vast universe of emotions, musical gestures and timbres.
Lisiecki recently wowed audiences with his award-winning Beethoven Lieder album with Matthias Goerne.
