In recent years, the rediscovery of Hans Rott's late Romantic works has thrilled audiences in concert halls in many places. His most important work, the 1st Symphony from 1878-1880, rightly forms the center of this repertoire and impresses with its groundbreaking musical ideas.
The pieces of two companions of the Austrian composer and organist form a wonderfully harmonious framework: the "Blumine" of his younger Viennese classmate Gustav Mahler and the "Symphonic Prelude" of his mentor Anton Bruckner. The Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of its principal conductor Jakub Hrůša, goes into depth with full dedication and invites the listener on an exciting journey of discovery.
