The magnificent album “My Point of View” was the second album recorded by the great pianist and composer Herbie Hancock for Blue Note. The 1963 recordings featured a top-notch band, including six shining stars of the jazz scene such as Donald Byrd (trumpet), Hank Mobley (tenor saxophone), Grachan Moncur III (trombone), Grant Green (guitar), Chuck Israels (bass) and Tony Williams (drums). Every track on the album is imbued with a rousing musicality that clearly demonstrates Hancock's great talent as an arranger. While “Blind Man, Blind Man” is reminiscent of Hancock's earlier hit “Watermelon Man,” this session also features truly essential Hancock compositions such as “King Cobra”, “A Tribute To Someone” and the bluesy “And What If I Don't”.
As part of the extremely popular “Blue Note 85th Anniversary Reissue Series” Universal Music Japan presents the sonically impressive remastering of this jazz classic by the legendary Kevin Gray, who is also responsible for Blue Note US's analog reissues such as “Tone Poet” and “Classic Vinyl” – as a limited Japan only UHQCD with OBI stripe. The original recording session for “My Point Of View” took place on March 19, 1960 at Rudy Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.
