This recording of several popular Rossini overtures with the London Symphony Orchestra is an experience; even for listeners who have heard the works many times before. It is a crystal clear recording with brilliant sound quality that beautifully reproduces individual instruments and a highly motivated Piero Gamba on the conductor's podium who moves the orchestra to excellence not often found in these much-performed works. The recording took place in November 1960 at London's Town Hall.

2. Overture to La scala di seta (The Silken Ladder)
3. Overture to Il barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville)
