First released in 1988, this best-of compilation is a representative cross-section of Bryan Ferry's musical work with Roxy Music and his success as a solo artist. The Ultimate Collection combines the glam art rock of the early years with the stylish pop of Avalon and Ferry's later solo albums. In addition to well-known hits and excellent cover versions, the album contains two further song gems: Help Me, Ferry's contribution to David Cronenberg's horror classic The Fly, which was only released as a single in the US in 1986, and the previously unreleased He'll Have To Go, which was released as a single in 1989.
Hong Kong is a very special market for audiophile music lovers. The local branch of Universal Music recognised this and had some of Ball Au's popular tracks remixed at Hong Kong's Sound Max Studios. The mastering has clearly been done with the audiophile in mind and is often very different from previous productions. Naturally, both the PCM and DSD tracks benefit from the improved sound. The Hybrid SACDs themselves are manufactured in Japan.
