Frédéric D'oria-Nicolas, one of the treasure hunters of the French label "The Lost Recordings", came across a recording of Sonny Boy Williamson – alone on stage, from 1963 – in the radio archives during a trip to Bremen. The quality of the recording was not only musically captivating – it was worthy of a high-end presentation! A few months later, the label found the original tapes of another incredible concert from 1962 in Stockholm.
"The Lost Recordings" is proud to have tracked down the lost performances of these blues gods – at the Olympia in Paris in 1962 and at the Stadttheater in Bremen in 1963: John Lee Hooker, Memphis Slim, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, Willie Dixon, Shakey Jake, T-Bone Walker, Sonny Boy Williamson II, Jump Jackson, Croatian bluesman Davor Kajfes and singer Helen Humes take turns on "The Original American Folk Blues Festival". The lavishly restored recording comes as a strictly limited double LP (3000 copies) – with 180 gram vinyl, cut at 33 RPM cut at Simon Garcia, Marciac. The famous Kevin Gray is responsible for the lacquer cuts.
"The Lost Recordings" is celebrated worldwide for preserving invaluable musical heritage and for the unsurpassed quality of his Phoenix-Mastering™ restorations. "The Original American Folk Blues Festival (Live In Paris 1962, Bremen 1963)" is nothing less than an audiophile revelation, showing just how fantastic stereophonic mono recordings can sound.
