At the time of the last concerts in 1967, the Dave Brubeck Quartet had already existed for 16 years, in more or less the same line-up. That's how familiar the four were with each other! Dave and Paul made their debut at the Black Hawk nightclub in San Francisco. Their trademark: Breaking down racial barriers, which they fought unflinchingly even during the most extreme period of McCarthyism, and making jazz accessible to as many people as possible by reinterpreting ballads, folk songs or great themes of classical music. Above all, they developed an almost infinite variety of complex rhythms. In Scheveningen, on the evening of October 24, 1967, the Dave Brubeck Quartet was more than just a jazz band. It was the ambassador of American music in Europe.
