Pieces of music that run backwards, so-called palindromes, exist hundreds of times. A long-playing record that plays backwards, however, is rare. In this TACET LP, unlike the usual, the needle is placed at the 'mirror' of the record and runs outwards. Behind the apparent gag is nothing more than the will to achieve the best possible sound result and the general realization that music often begins quietly and ends loudly.
It's just a pity that this phenomenon is not taken into account in the usual cutting technique, because the further the tone arm moves inward, the more information has to be accommodated per groove centimeter at constant turntable speed. The result: at high volume, the highs suffer and distortion occurs. But this undesirable effect can be compensated for in reverse, as Tacet owner Andreas Spreer impressively demonstrates here.
Make up your own mind: On this release you may eagerly listen to the 9th Symphony in E minor by the Czech composer Antonín Dvorák, played by the symphony orchestra "Concerto Budapest" under the baton of András Keller. Let this special sound experience convince you!
