This studio recording of the US trumpeter and flugelhorn player Clark Terry was recorded in 1959 for the French label Decca and is considered a rarity. Sam Records is pleased to make the session, recorded in MONO, available again to jazz fans.
The rhythm section consisting of Duke Ellington Orchestra musicians (including Terry, who is considered one of the best trumpeters in this one) does a super job with its leader; contrary to the widespread critics' opinions that the Ellington Orchestra works well only led by Ellington. The combo plays great together, Gonsalves proving a perfect foil to Terry. Interpretations of titles by Ellington, Thelonious Monk and Babs Gonzales shine alongside original compositions such as "Serenade to a Bus Seat," which is the gold piece of this wonderful recording.
