Three world premiere recordings! The Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Michael Butterman, performs the fascinating music of renowned Cuban pianist and composer Aldo López-Gavilán. López-Gavilán, praised in the Seattle Times for his “brilliant technique and rhythmic passion” and described by The Times (London) as an “impressive virtuoso,” shines in both the classical and jazz worlds as a recitalist, concert soloist, chamber musician, and interpreter of his own stirring compositions. The album includes the works “Emporium for Piano and Orchestra,” “Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra,” and “Hechizos (Spells) for Solo Piano.” The soloists are Aldo López-Gavilán on piano and Ricardo Morales on clarinet.
Reference Recordings has been responsible for many award-winning CDs, SACDs and LPs in the fields of classical, jazz, blues and world music in recent years. All releases are recorded with the conviction that the sound of a recording is just as important as the music itself.
