American composer and conductor John Williams grew up at a time when there was still a strict division between "serious" and "entertainment" music. The child of an orchestral musician, he learned to read music at an early age and later studied composition at the University of California. He became known as a composer for film and television productions, working closely and frequently with Steven Spielberg, among others. He has scored such blockbusters as Jaws, Star Wars, Schindler's List, Jurassic Park and the Indiana Jones series. This compilation by the Dallas Winds Orchestra under the direction of Jerry Junkin with trumpeter Christopher Martin presents a cross-section of his work, recorded by "Prof" Keith Johnson.
