The Hermitage Piano Trio once again delights listeners with its third release on Reference Recordings: “Dvorak's Circle.” The highly acclaimed trio consists of violinist Misha Keylin, cellist Sergey Antonov and pianist Ilya Kazantsev. In “Dvorak's Circle,” the trio brings together the musical and personal connections between Antonín Dvořák and two composers whom he taught, promoted, and who became part of his family: Josef Suk and Rudolf Friml. Since the trio was founded, Dvorak's “Piano Trio No. 3 in F minor, Op. 65” has been one of their favorite works. With their selection of accompanying composers and their complete piano trio works, they wanted to highlight the creativity, connection, and diversity of teacher and students.
Their musical and personal intersection results in a musical portrait of three gifted individuals who explored and developed their talents thanks to the significant influence of one of the greatest composers of all time. With Rudolf Friml's “Piano Trio ‘Rural Life In Bohemia,’ Op. 36,” the Hermitage Piano Trio also presents a world premiere recording! “Dvorak's Circle” was produced by Grammy winners Victor and Marina Ledin and recorded in April 2023 by Reference Recordings' Grammy-winning team of sound engineers Sean Royce Martin and Keith O. Johnson at Skywalker Sound in Marin County, California.
Reference Recordings has been responsible for many award-winning CDs, SACDs and LPs in the fields of classical, jazz, blues and world music in recent years. All releases are recorded with the conviction that the sound of a recording is just as important as the music itself.
