"As expected, the recording quality is wonderful, courtesy of Dominique Klatte. All of the quartet's instruments (saxophone, accordion, piano, double bass) are perfectly balanced and equally well represented. The first musical and recording highlight is the solo piece “El Cielo.” Andreas Hinterseher plays with such sophistication, suddenly veering left or right in this tango and completely surprising us with every new phrase. And he does so with a recorded dynamic that is truly unparalleled. In “Mulos Mamba,” the mood changes significantly. No tango, no signs of world music, but pure swing, which immediately reminds us of the Art van Damme Quartet. But it is precisely this stylistic diversity and carefree attitude that makes the entire recording a truly entertaining pleasure. Mulo Francel and his troupe, together with sound engineer Dominique Klatte, have once again produced a remarkable recording: musically and sonically top notch. It is still something very special that we are able to participate in Dominique Klatte's dream of recording and releasing music completely analog. I think we should all thank him even more for this. Because he more than deserves it!"(Dr. Stephan von Clarmann)
Quadro Nuevo was founded in 1996. On a gray January day that year, four young men met for the first time in a parking lot near Salzburg. The four hardly knew each other beforehand and were supposed to record film music for ORF. The fee for this was subsequently squandered at the local casino, and the film was never broadcast. On that day, however, one thing was clear: a new quartet with a distinctive sound was born, and from then on there would only be one thing – Quadro Nuevo, celebrating their love of nostalgic acoustic music night after night, stage after stage. A dream came true, and the exuberance of happiness can be heard in every note. The spirited, passionate musicians have since given around 4,500 concerts. Quadro Nuevo's music draws on the magic of extensive travels – from the alleys of Bari to the mountain ranges of the Balkans to the colors of Bangalore and the nights of Buenos Aires. The venues where they perform are as diverse as the roots of their music. Whether at renowned festivals or in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Quadro Nuevo always treats its audience with the same dedication! Tango and French valse musette, Aegean mythical melodies, daring road songs along a sun-drenched coastal road, oriental grooves, Brazilian flavor, and Neapolitan canzone flow playfully into one another. The band has twice received the Echo Award for “Best Live Act of the Year,” the German Record Critics' Award, several German Jazz Awards, and a Gold Record!
The focus of Dominik Klatt's project “Pure Tape Recording” is on the master tape. The tracks on these tapes cannot be heard in this quality on any other media. The exclusive recordings feature various musicians from all areas of jazz and world music. Another nice effect is that Klattes' label “Jazz On Vinyl” benefits from the selection of special musicians. Pure Tape Recording was only made possible through the support of Dietmar Winter, who organized countless concerts with Ray Brown, Brad Mehldau, Wilhelm Breuker Kollektief, Jan Garbarek, Ketil Björnstad, Hilliard Ensemble and many more.
