At the side of drummer Norman Connors gathered for "Dance Of Magic" a number of fusion stars, such as trumpeter Eddie Henderson, bassist Stanley Clarke, keyboardist Herbie Hancock and bassist Cecil McBee. Connors' schooling with Pharoah Sanders, Sam Rivers and Sun Ra is readily apparent; the album title delivers on its promise. Driving, mystical, spiritual funk-jazz is the program, as the 21-minute magical jam session of the title track directly proves. The finale is the great "Give the Drummer Some" by Jason Ankeny.
