Keb' Mo' made his solo debut as a blues musician in 1980 under his full name Kevin Moore - and flopped right down the line. For 14 years it remained quiet around the guitarist, singer and songwriter from Los Angeles, who had made his entrance into the Southern California blues scene through an engagement with Papa John Creach.
Only when a responsible person at Epic Records hears a tape of him, the then 42-year-old gets another chance. What followed included five Grammys, numerous new albums and worldwide tours a film project with Martin Scorsese and a concert for host Barack Obama at the White House.
"Keb' Mo'" is a quirky, ambitious collection of gritty country blues songs. The dashing guitar playing, his passionate vocals as well as his talent as a songwriter make it an album you don't want to miss in your collection.
