The music of Horace Tapscott with the Pan-African Peoples Arkestra is part Sun Ra Arkestra, part John Coltrane, part Art Ensemble of Chicago. This groundbreaking and monumental album explores Tapscott's multi-faceted, deep and spiritual jazz: Afrocentric rhythms, hypnotic bass lines, Tapscott's stabbing, modal piano playing and stunning flute and horn arrangements.
"Live at IUCC" is a true highlight of independent underground jazz music recorded during this era. The recording was made in 1979 at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Los Angeles. The remastering for Pure Pleasure was done by Cicely Baston (Alchemy / Air Mastering).
