On "Lucky Four," jazz saxophonist David Murray joins Wilber Morris (bass), Dave Burrell (piano) and Victor Lewis (drums) to present a rousing session. Recorded in 1988, it fits beautifully into Murray's strong line of quartet works from the late eighties. Bluesy and peppered with varied melodies and rhythms to the point of tango, the California-born Murray shows off his diverse skills as a soloist and master improviser. "Abel's Blissed Out Blues," composed by Dave Burrell, which begins gently and evolves into a stormy two-step, is the highlight on "Lucky Four."
