Throughout his life, Tommy Crona has pursued middle-class professions beyond that of a professional musician. Although Crona can look back on an extensive list of appearances as an accompanist and guest musician with far more prominent Scandinavian musicians, “Reflections” is actually his first solo album. As the album title suggests, Crona reflects on music by artists who have influenced his own musical socialization: Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Thelonious Monk, Larry Willis, Kenny Barron, etc. Alongside Tommy Crona on piano, Hans Beckenroth on double bass and Jesper Kviberg on drums complete the Crona Jazz Trio. Alongside mastermind Jan-Eric Persson, Roger Ekman and Erik Nordström are responsible for this fantastic production.
The outstanding Hybrid SACD from Opus 3 Records includes a booklet with detailed information on the recording technology and microphones used, as well as very personal liner notes on Tommy Crona's musical career.
