In the years since the release of the first “Showcase” sampler in 2005, the music genre that the label had recorded had changed somewhat: Opus 3 opened up to styles such as bluegrass, Americana, and music inspired by the early days of pop and rock music. Nine of the thirteen tracks are vocal pieces – in contrast to earlier recordings, which were dominated by instrumental pieces and did not feature any classical music. From Maria Winther, B.B. Driftwood, East, and Dan & The Electros to Tomas Örnberg, whose album “Blue Five” was named Sweden's best jazz album, “Showcase 2013” offers an impressively diverse musical journey. Eric Bibb is also featured here with a track from his album “Blues, Ballads & Worksongs,” which has received an incredible number of rave reviews! This compilation is intended to illustrate that despite minor changes in the recorded material, one thing remains constant: the highest possible quality of the recordings – something Opus 3 Records has been known for since its inception.
The LP (180-gram vinyl, 33 RPM), which boasts outstanding sound quality, was pressed by Optimal Media. Andreas “Lupo” Lubich (Calyx Mastering, Berlin) is responsible for the lacquer disc cutting.
