Three years after the release of his internationally acclaimed debut album “Autumn Shuffle,” Peder Af Ugglas now presents his second solo work. To cut to the chase: it was worth the wait! “Beyond” is an understatement – more minimalist than its predecessor, this album focuses on Af Ugglas' skills on the electric slide guitar. The twelve instrumentals showcase a musician committed to the blues with a magnificent tone and a phrasing all his own. Of course, memories of Mark Knofler, Peter Green, David Lindley, and Ry Cooder come to mind – but with this release, at the latest, the unmistakable style of an exceptional guitarist who may have started producing his own records far too late becomes apparent. All the tracks on “Beyond” were penned by Af Uglass, who also shows his talents as a pianist and arranger. The congenial accompanying musicians sensitively follow the reduced basic concept – a feast for all fans of technically and tonally sophisticated guitar playing!
