The Omnibus Wind Ensemble was founded in 1981 and its instrumentation developed quite naturally: initially there was a double wind quintet, then a double bass and a clarinet were added, and finally the serenade ensemble was formed: colorful musicians in perfect harmony. From the very beginning, the Omnibus Wind Ensemble has been committed to originality: the group is characterized by its own arrangements, commissioned works, and collaborations with a wide variety of people from different musical genres. It has worked in the traditional classical genre, but also with jazz musicians, stand-up comedians, opera singers, and theater people. Thanks to its unconventional mix of old and new, familiar and unfamiliar, often in its own versions and with plenty of room for audience interaction and humor, the Omnibus Wind Ensemble has become one of Sweden's most popular chamber music ensembles over time. Since Opus Records set up its own mastering studio, Jan-Eric Persson has been thinking about a best-of sampler of the Omnibus Wind Ensemble. This is now finally available with “Circo Della Vita” and contains exclusively tracks from previous OWE releases.
"Musically, it offers a colorful medley, a musical confectionery with rearranged opera melodies by Mozart, Rossini, Bizet, and more recent Scandinavian compositions. Melodious sound is the trump card, and that is also the only slight criticism of this best-of production – a veritable acoustic worry dispeller." (Michael Vrzal, image hifi 3/2009)
