Behind Duo Aeternica is one of Sweden's finest concert pianists: Love Derwinger. He has been working with clarinetist Kjell Fagéus for over 25 years, both as a duo and in larger ensembles. “Nocturne” is a collection of romantic classical music from the 19th and 20th centuries by the great protagonists of this genre: César Franck, Gabriel Fauré, Nadia Boulanger, Lili Boulanger, Germaine Tailleferre and Nino Rota. Most of the music consists of transcriptions that have been carefully adapted for the clarinet. The piano parts are original. The pieces were selected because they share the same musical language in many respects. This means that the listener can hear the recording as a whole symphony in which the tonal language is the same, but the music presents many different tempos, dynamics, and forms of expression. All 18 tracks were recorded in a small church with fantastic acoustics and an extremely unobtrusive reverberation structure.
The outstanding Hybrid SACD from Opus 3 Records includes a booklet with detailed information on the recording technology and microphones used, as well as on the composers, compositions and both musicians.
