A multi-talented artist! B.B. Driftwood has made films in Africa and in the late 1980s, he lived in London and worked with Dave Stewart from the Eurythmics. In the 1990s, he toured the Caribbean and South America and released his first album with Sony Sweden. The singer-songwriter's music could be categorized as blues – but in an extremely broad sense: “Southward Bound” features elements of other genres such as country, Latin and gospel. There's really not much more to say about the musicians who appear on this album. They are all masters of their craft. Given the impressive musical diversity and the different line-ups for almost every track, the cast list for “Southward Bound” reads like a “Who's Who” of the Swedish music scene. B.B. Driftwood's distinctive voice and convincingly sensitive backing on acoustic and electric guitars is impressive in any case.
The recordings for this album were made over a period of two years – without any rush or the usual pressure to release. The result is a testament to great skill and striking serenity! Jan-Eric Persson has once again succeeded in creating a technically impressive recording that further cements his reputation as a master of lively audiophile music productions – an album for lovers of rich tones!
