Stevie Ray Vaughan and his band Double Trouble were the root of the blues revival of the early 80s. After the blues had led a shadowy existence in the USA in the 70s and the sales figures were far behind those of other genres, especially in America, "Texas Flood" changed everything. In 1983, the year of its release, the album climbed to number 38 in the Billboard charts and remained listed for more than six months.
Stevie Ray Vaughan had actually only played in the studio what he had offered in the years before in Texan clubs. His guitar work on the David Bowie album "Let's Dance" had made him known to a wider audience a few months earlier, and they were eager to hear more virtuoso guitar work.
The MFSL re-mastering is oriented to the dark sound of the master tape and sound engineer Shawn R. Britton has not succumbed to the temptation to put an artificial high tone shine over the recording. We experience the blues gritty and dynamic and as it was recorded in 1982 at Down Town Studios. The MFSL reissue is released as a hybrid SACD with an additional booklet.
