Carlos Santana's big break as a rock musician came in 1970. His second LP, Abraxas, reached number 1 in the Billboard charts. For a Latin musician who portrayed himself as a guitar god with raw energy, this was a completely unexpected success. Producer Fred Catero, who also produced Janis Joplin and Chicago, had found the right mix in the studio and created an album that was as musically impressive as it was sonically convincing.
Remastered for Mobile Fidelity by Shawn R. Britton, 'Abraxas' is now being released as a hybrid SACD in a mini-LP cover in a limited edition with consecutive serial numbers.
