Paul Simon's "There Goes Rhymin' Simon" is considered by many fans as the real masterpiece of the artist on the way to the classic "Graceland". The very first song "Kodachrome" became a big hit and set the mood for a versatile album, which was released in 1973 (one year after the musical separation from Art Garfunkel). The harmonious mixture of soul, R&B and folk, with gospel and even Dixieland elements, makes the listener sway along comfortably warm.
Simon's wonderful baritone is rendered absolutely naturally in this re-release by MoFi and comes across crystal clear in songs like "American Tune" and "Love Me Like A Rock" (for whose background he enlisted support from the renowned gospel group "Dixie Hummingbirds"). The album was nominated for two Grammys and rose to #2 on the Billboard charts.
