In the studio, Miles Davis almost always pursued a conceptual vision, especially in the 60s. This makes live recordings like Four & More all the more valuable. It presents the legendary trumpeter free from thematic demands and restrictions, playing freely on stage with a programme of brilliant material that he later neglected in favour of more experimental playing. Intense and aggressively dynamic, Davis created a veritable hurricane in New York's Lincoln Center Philharmonic Hall on 12 February 1964, with pianist Herbie Hancock swinging, saxophonist George Coleman flexing his muscles and all propelled by 19-year-old drummer Tony Williams.
Remastered for Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab by Shawn R. Britton. The hybrid SACD is released in a limited edition gatefold sleeve with consecutive serial numbers. Four & More is one of the last recordings to feature Davis with a full set of standards. Exciting and highly recommended!
