Blues, R&B, Country, Rock&Roll: all that is Little Feat. The band was discovered and signed by producer Russ Titelman in 1969, two years later the eponymous debut album was released and became a gigantic success. Unfortunately, only with record critics.
Little Feat consisted not only of gifted musicians. What distinguished them was the dark humor of band leader Lowell George. George, who previously also played with Zappa's Mothers of Invention, wrote little narratives for this album, songs about truckers on speed and pot, waitresses and lovelorn losers. This is how, among other things, the trucker anthem "Willin'" came about, which is here in an acoustic version with Ry Cooder on guitar. Even before the LP was released, Linda Ronstadt covered the song and for the second album "Sailin' Shoes" the band recorded it again - this time in a band version.
Ed Ward wrote in Rolling Stone in 1971, "I think I've listened to the album 50 times since I got it, and it gets better and better. Perhaps it should be pointed out that the critics never quite agreed on whether the album deserved 4 ½ or rather 5 stars.
The MFSL version includes new cover lyrics written exclusively for MFSL by producer Russ Titelman. Numbered, limited edition gatefold cover.
