Jerry García had truly reaped some merit during his career as guitarist for the Grateful Dead before collaborating with longtime friend David Grisman for the first time on a recording in 1991. With guitar and mandolin, they produced a warm, intimate acoustic album that comes across without gimmicks. Pure, naturalistic, with great presence and virtuosity, the two bluegrass lovers play an exquisite mix of pop, blues and folk tunes, adding collaborative compositions like Grateful Dawg.
Together with bassist Jim Kerwin and percussionist/violinist Joe Craven, a magical chemistry develops, a song that involuntarily draws the listener in. The remastering by Shawn R. Britton for Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab impresses with smoothness, a striking sound image and a three-dimensional stage. García / Grisman is a recommendation for fans of "unplugged" recordings! The hybrid SACD is released in a limited edition mini LP cover with consecutive serial number.
