James Taylor was in danger of falling into oblivion at the end of the 70s. He switched to the Columbia Records label and recorded there his most successful album since "Sweat Baby James". With the 1977 release, the singer found his way back to a darker James Taylor with autobiographical songs at a time in his life when he was singing about depression and reflecting on "Another Grey Morning." At the same time, he expanded his folk-rock roots with a country twist and recorded "Bartender's Blues" with Linda Ronstadt as a background vocalist.
James Taylor created for this album a new sound full of warmth and shimmering small details. He was supported by exceptional musicians such as Carly Simon on female vocals and David Sanborn on saxophone. The MFSL Re-Issue has been sonically prepared by Shawn R. Britton with incredible subtlety, achieving outstanding presence and attention to detail without drifting even slightly into coldness. If there were more recordings of this quality, everyone would be an audiophile.
Supplied as a 180-gram vinyl LP with sequential serial number. The LP comes in gatefold sleeve and was re-cut by Krieg Wunderlich and Rob LoVerde.
