Foreigner's debut album, released in 1977, showed the USA that good old-fashioned rock would not be pushed aside by the wave of punk coming out of England. Foreigner celebrated what would later be called "arena rock". Music to which anyone could take out their air guitar and fill stadiums. The album went platinum five times over the years for its massive sales and the hit "Cold As Ice" is a staple of every rock radio station's playlist.
Although this album has been re-released several times, the team at Mobile Fidelity have managed to pull off a minor miracle. Rob LoVerde has managed to create such a brilliant sound that you could be forgiven for thinking it was a modern production. Never before have Foreigner sounded so dynamic and open, and rarely has the air guitar begged to be caressed in such a way. One of those albums that should be listened to out loud.
