Chicago are really two bands in one. One is the upbeat rock 'n' roll quartet of Terry Kath (guitar), Robert Lamm (keyboards), Peter Cetera (bass) and Danny Seraphine (drums), and the other is the no less fiery brass trio of Lee Loughnane (trumpet), James Pankow (trombone) and Walter Parazaider (saxophone/woodwinds). And while many bands in the early seventies experimented with mixing styles, few built as many musical bridges as Chicago - and were as successful at it.
Their debut album contained so much material that it was released as a double LP. Transit Authority fuses jazz, rock and pop into an eclectic mix that has delighted mainstream audiences and hardcore connoisseurs alike. Rob LoVerde remastered this album for Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab, literally lifting the veil from the songs. A previously unheard lightness has been introduced, turning the complex musical arrangements into pure pleasure.
