Fans and critics have suggested that two factors were responsible for the bitter, regretful and yet peaceful tone of 1975's 'Blood On The Tracks'. After years of success, Dylan's musical development stagnated in the early 70s and he found himself in a creative stalemate. The crisis in his marriage, which ended with his divorce from his wife Sara, occurred at the same time. Dylan himself denied any connection, but whatever the reason, melancholy, frustration, highs and lows, sadness and a sense of rejection are the emotions conveyed to the listener. Looking back, Dylan considers Blood On The Tracks a turning point in his career and for many fans it is his best album.
The original master tapes were used for the MFSL remastering by Rob LoVerde. The acoustic solo tracks as well as the songs with the band, consisting of Tony Brown on bass, Buddy Cage on guitar and Paul Griffin on organ, can now be heard with the greatest possible dynamics, presence and clarity. This SACD is part of a series of new Dylan releases from MFSL. Previous releases include Another Side of Bob Dylan, The Basement Tapes and The Freewheelin'.
