The other side of Bob Dylan is his lesser-known romantic, absurd and whimsical side, which has received little attention in the musician's previous intellectual releases. With Another Side of Bob Dylan, he corrects his course and with it his image as the spokesman of a rebellious generation and the saviour of the people. Dylan turned his back on drama and produced an album full of madcap whimsy, hallucinogenic prose, humorous perspectives and non-binding themes. The result is a richly varied LP that collects contemporary Dylan classics such as 'All I Really Want to Do', 'Chimes of Freedom', 'My Back Pages', 'I Don't Believe You' and 'It Ain't Me Babe'.
Recorded at Columbia's Studio A on 9 June 1964, the recording gives an insight into Dylan's ease: the listener experiences him laughing, relaxed and at ease. In keeping with this, the sound is lively and open and does not seem to have come from analogue tapes almost half a century old. The mono hybrid SACD has been remastered for Mobile Fidelity by Rob LoVerde and Shawn R. Britt
