Fink - The LowSwing Sessions Vol. 2

In April 2023, British singer Fin Greenall, aka Fink, went into the studio with LowSwing Records producer Guy Sternberg to record what would later become known as “The LowSwing Sessions” (LOSW010-33) and go on to be a huge success, even beyond the audiophile community. The acclaimed recording paved the way for a follow-up project featuring yet another lineup of “stellar” musicians: Over the course of three days in November 2025, Fink recorded with bassist Tim Lefebvre (David Bowie, Tedeschi Trucks Band), Danish pedal-steel virtuoso Maggie Björklund (Jack White, Calexico, Howe Gelb), the acclaimed German pianist Michael Wollny, as well as Dutch drummer Nicky Hustinx and LowSwing founder Guy Sternberg on analog synthesizers in an intimate setting. The result is a collection of deeply personal reinterpretations of songs by PJ Harvey, Jimi Hendrix, Arcade Fire, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Morrissey, and The Cure – paired with Fink’s unmistakable musical signature. Rather than simply re-recording familiar tracks, the band approaches each song as a living composition, discovering new spaces, new dynamics, and entirely new emotional perspectives in the process. As Fink writes in the liner notes to “The LowSwing Sessions Vol. 2”: “The moment where everything lines up just enough and you stop thinking and just play and then something special happens. The tape just happens to be the witness.”
Like “The LowSwing Sessions Vol. 1“ and all LowSwing productions, “The LowSwing Sessions Vol. 2” was created entirely analogue, standing as another pure analogue release from the Berlin-based label. The numbered and strictly limited-edition double LP (140 grams, 45 RPM) was mastered at Emil Berlin Studios, cut onto lacquer foil by Sidney Claire Meyer and pressed at Pallas. The booklet contains detailed information about the mixing console, recording equipment, microphone technique and the effects devices used.
LowSwing Records is a young record label dedicated to the love of music in analog format. LowSwing productions are recorded and mixed on analog tape and then cut directly to vinyl – driven by respect and passion for purist recording techniques. The heart of the label is the LowSwing Recording Studio in Berlin (www.lowswing.de), where owner Guy Sternberg dedicates himself to exciting new artists with the production values of yesteryear.
