"The Call" carries the spirit of the hardbop of the 50s and 60s into our time. As was customary at the time, the session was recorded in one go at one location and was recorded absolutely analog and without cuts or overdubs by sound engineer and "Jazz on Vinyl" label owner Dominik Klatte. The result is a wonderfully swinging and dynamic recording that is a musical and sonic pearl for audiophile jazz lovers.
Seven compositions by pianist C.L. Mayer and saxophonist Michael Ausserbauer can be found on the 7th release of the jazz series, which is highly regarded among collectors. Supported by Christoph Vilsmeier on double bass and Ralph Ausserbauer on drums, the masters of their craft present a broad mood picture of hardbop, such as the complex title track "The Call", the bluesy "Let's all go Home", the tender ballad "Behind my Wall" or the fresh and grooving "This is my Love".
The 33 RPM LP is pressed on 180-gram vinyl, limited to 1,000 copies and hand-numbered.
