Since 2014, master saxophonist Doug Webb has led the unofficial “house band” at the famous Los Angeles jazz club “The Baked Potato.” This sensational group includes Jamie Kime, a Grammy-winning guitarist, Grammy-nominated bassist Jimmy Earl (formerly of ‘The Tonight Show’), renowned keyboardist Mitchel Forman, and one of the world’s best rock drummers: Danny Carey of Tool! Over more than a decade of playing together, they’ve developed an almost telepathic chemistry and blend their unique instrumental skills into a powerful yet sophisticated sound reminiscent of the powerhouse bands of the ’70s: Jeff Beck, the Mahavishnu Orchestra, and Billy Cobham. “Variations” by The Doug Webb Group is now available for the first time as an audiophile 180-gram LP (33 RPM). The digitally recorded tracks were remixed onto analog tape specifically for this vinyl release by Roy Hendrickson (Saturday Night in San Francisco) and mastered by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering.
