This is what Leonard Cohen said about Jennifer Warnes and this album is once again proof of how accurate that statement was. Sonically, the remastering on 24 Karat Gold CD is a big step in the direction of even more dynamics and yet more calmness in the sound picture.
The music doesn't play for Warnes' voice, much more your outstanding voice is another instrument that plays perfectly in tune with the rest. You will stroll along with the individual tracks on a journey between guitar, bass and Gesgang and dive deep into the world of Konga, speaking drum and Celtic tambourine.
Chris Bellman of Grundman Mastering is responsible for the remastering here and had with the first mastering by Bernie Grundman from 1992 really good source material available. The raw data comes from the master tape from the personal possession of Jennifer Warnes. This recording is not perfect either and the connoisseur will even recognize the weaknesses of Ms. Warnes' microphone, but if we had more recordings like this, no one on this planet would think of listening to MP3.
[This title has also been released by Sony Music Hong Kong as a K2HD mastered title, but it doesn't come close to the Gold CD in terms of sound. Only a digital tape copy was available for the FLAIR mastering center in Japan, while Impex was allowed to work with the original tapes privately owned by Jennifer Warnes].
