High Voltage" starts off in a good mood - the song "Chicago" sets the listener up wonderfully for a varied, swinging session. Recorded in 1970 with his 17-piece band - one of the most successful big bands in history and winner of 17 Grammys - this is a purely instrumental album after several successful recordings with the likes of Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald.
Acclaimed composer and arranger Chico O'Farrill once again proved his flair for the band's sound by selecting a fine repertoire of standards that the band had never played before in its more than 30 years of existence.
