Known for his virtuoso fusion of jazz, Caribbean sounds and blues, Jamaican pianist Monty Alexander has been called the heir to Oscar Peterson. Together with the bassist of the classic Dave Brubeck Quartet, calypso percussionist Montego Joe and drumming ace Duffy Jackson, he made this recording in 1971, which marked the beginning of his successful association with the MPS label.
