Pianist Martin Vatter recorded 'Homeland' at the legendary MPS Studio in Villingen, Germany, on a 1979 Bösendorfer Imperial grand piano, the same instrument on which Friedrich Gulda and Oscar Peterson recorded their acclaimed albums. The original microphones were also used in an identical arrangement - now that's a promising basis for a great recording.
As the title suggests, "Homeland" is about the concept of home: "This album is an emotional, passionate and deep homage to my homeland. But I don't just want to speak for myself with my music. Everyone has a homeland and associates it with very personal memories and feelings. Unfortunately, many people can no longer live in their homeland or return there safely at any time. The current flow of refugees speaks for itself. In view of the current situation, I dedicate my compositions "Forced To Flee My Homeland" and "Your Tears Will Dry" to all the refugees who, for various reasons, have had to or still have to leave their homeland.
