Características

Two of George Gershwin's masterpieces come together here: "Rhapsody in Blue, recorded with the Columbia Symphony Orchestra, and An American in Paris, recorded with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. Both works are conducted by Leonard Bernstein, who also played the piano on Rhapsody. The first release was on Columbia Records / Sony. Critics praised the recordings, saying that they "shine with a convincing choice of tempo and a fantastic balance between tension and simplicity, emotion and objectivity, for they blossom without losing any of their dynamism".
The recordings are now available in unprecedented sound quality. The original analogue recordings from 1958-1960 form the basis for Christoph Stickel's unobtrusive "reworking", which aims to avoid any artistic intervention.
