In 1994, Dutch blues guitarist and singer Hans Theessink recorded 'Hard Road Blues' on analogue in two all-night sessions, delivering a powerful album whose vinyl and CD versions are now collector's items. Many years ago, a fire in the pressing plant destroyed the matrices, making a reprint impossible. Fortunately, however, Theessink found the original master tapes in good condition while cleaning up during the long COVID pandemic, which gave him the idea for this reissue.
The remastering was done by Christoph Stickl of CSMastering, who had already done excellent work on Theessink's 1987 'Baby Wants To Boogie' LP. The recording, which was beautifully captured by engineer Andreas Fabianek at the time, is notable for its organic sound; you can feel the smallest details, you can literally hear the fingers dancing on the fretboard.
Recorded and mixed at Recorder Music Studios Judendorf, Austria, by Andreas Fabianek (fall 1994).
Produced by Milica and Hans Theessink for Blue Groove.
Hans Theessink plays strings by Thomastik-Infeld, Vienna.
