If you ask Winston Ma of Last Impression Music, he names three of the countless recordings of Antoino Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" that are among his favorites. He was able to remaster two of them himself. The first, interpreted by the Ensemble Sonatori De La Gioiosa Marca with violinist Giuliano Carmingnola, he released in 2002 as a now out-of-print SACD. The second is the present recording by the Boston Symphony Orchestra conducted by Siji Ozawa and featuring principal violinist Joseph Silverstein.
Recorded with the new Ultra-HD 32-bit mastering process, the recording becomes the ultimate listening pleasure for every audiophile. It is in the nature of composition that each release of the "Four Seasons" sounds and is performed differently. Vivaldi allows the orchestra and especially the soloists to put all their talent, virtuosity, aesthetics and personality into their playing. The Largo from the "Winter", here interpreted by Joseph Silverstein, stands out for its particular glory.
The original Telarc recording dates from October 1981 and was originally produced using early digital technology.
Ultra-HD 32-Bit-Mastering
This mastering format was developed by FIM and Five/Four Productions. Five/Four Productions is made up of the former Telarc production team who wanted to be able to master the best possible sound quality without regard to lower quality equipment. The Five/Four Productions team can look back on 16 Grammys and countless other awards.
It is re-digitized with 32 bit word length and sampling frequency adapted to the source material. When possible, 192 KHz is used, but lower sampling rates are sonically advantageous for some material.
The Ultra-HD 32-bit productions can be played back on any CD player in excellent sound quality.
