Características
With LAGQ Latin, the four guitarists take their fans on a journey through Latin American countries and cultures - Cuba, Central and South America and Spain. Astor Piazolla's tango "Fuga y Misterio" plays a role, as do Egberto Gismonti's "Forrobodo", Eduardo Martin's "La Trampa" and Joaquin Rodrigo's "En Aranjuez con tu amor". Excerpts from Carmen complete the programme. Arranged by William Kenengiser and Andrew York for Telarc's 2002 release, the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet's interpretations capture the spirit of the originals.
Maybe it's just the guitars, but Copland's Paisaje Mexicano and Danza de Jalicso sound more Latin than the originals. And who would have thought that Sting's "Fragile" would work so well as a Latin arrangement - accompanied by subtle percussion. Connoisseurs will buy this CD anyway, but everyone else should just let themselves be surprised by the outstanding sound of this recording.
Ultra-HD 32-Bit-Mastering & PureFlection
This mastering format has been developed by FIM and Five/Four Productions. Five/Four Productions is made up of the former Telarc production team who wanted to be able to master the best possible sound quality regardless of the quality of the equipment. The Five/Four Productions team has won 16 Grammys and countless other awards.
It is re-digitised at 32-bit word length and sampling frequency to match the source material. Wherever possible, 192 KHz is used, but for some material, lower sampling rates can be beneficial to the sound. The Ultra-HD 32-bit productions can be played back on any CD player with outstanding sound quality.
The term PureFlection refers to the new way in which the glass master for the latest FIM productions is produced. Rather than being created as part of the normal production process at the pressing plant, the glass master is created by a specialist on a specially modified Blu-ray glass master cutting machine. The quality of the glass master is checked before the CDs are produced, and the new booklets contain the test protocol for this check. The result is significantly lower jitter and error levels than conventional industrial production and, unlike many modern productions, the resulting sound has an organic feel.
